You are invited to our one-day conference on Saturday 12th April 2008
Who is this conference for?
All those interested in developing a Christian mind and imagination, within and for the benefit of our academic disciplines.
Why come?
Come to listen, to learn, to discuss, to engage.
What will happen?
Our plenary guest speaker Dr James K. Smith will give two talks, one in each Session, followed by discussion.
Morning Session: “Postmodernism as Opportunity for Christian Scholarship”: an encouragement to develop the Christian mind in 21st century university life.
Afternoon Session: “Beyond Integration: Christian Scholarship and Practice”: investigating the crucial link between worship and scholarship, between the practices of discipleship and the formation of a Christian imagination.
Participants are invited to offer and present short papers on developing a Christian perspective on their own discipline. (Click here for a helpful template provided by Prof Andrew Basden).
There will be plenty of space for conversation, food and drink as we develop our Network.
Outcomes?
We aim to help participants return • better equipped to integrate their faith and daily work; • encouraged to glorify Christ on the campus; • engaged to contribute to an innovative reader in Christian Perspectives in Academia (see website for details). • next year we plan to publish a book of Christian perspectives on our academic disciplines
