Is God at work where you work?
Being a Christian at work, gives us many opportunities to stand out for Him. While those around us may live in fear about the economic environment and what it means for their lives, we can be confident that our God never lets us down and no matter what happens, will provide for our every need.
It’s in this confidence that our work colleagues will often take note that we ‘are different’ and it allows us to share our faith and to talk about our God who gives us true peace and joy. Sharing our faith can take many forms. For those of you in the Chichester area, sales analyst Hilary Price will talk about her faith at work within a software technology company on 12th September. 'Sell high or die' will take place at lunchtime (1:10-1:50) in the Cloisters, Eastern Arm of Chichester Cathedral.
There are materials that can help you, some of which we have been able to provide. Over 800 copies of our booklet on managing stress in the workplace have been despatched from our offices during the past month. If you would like a copy or copies for you work colleagues, follow the link below in 'Latest Articles'.
Then there are courses such as “God at Work’, based on Ken Costa’s book of the same name which aims to equip Christians in finding purpose in their every day work, and to live it out effectively. Have any of you been on this course or used materials from it? We would love to hear from you on how you found it so we can share with others.
However we approach our work, it needs to be backed up with prayer. Saturday 17th September, is the Global Day of Prayer and there will be a special event at Wembley supported by the Chairman of Transform Work UK's management board Chan Abraham – see the link below for more details. At this event, people will be asking God to “intervene and retrieve ‘broken Britain’ from our present moral, social and spiritual darkness.” A key part of this ‘retrieval’ will be for Christians to live out the ‘Good News’ where they work.
Whatever your situation, stand out for God this week at work and let’s show the world that Jesus is alive and at work.
