The Church at Work
Church leaders have a vital role to play in "preparing God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up" (Eph 4:12).
This section of our web site is aimed specifically at church leaders to help them encourage their congregation to stand up for their faith at work.
In many churches, the place where congregations spend most of their time is at work. Jesus spent much of his time in meeting people at work and using workplace situations to spread the Good News about God's plan for mankind. But today it would seem for that some Christians work has become a 'no go' area for talking about their faith, preferring to see this as a Sunday, or at least, non-work activity. This is not however, the experience for other Christians who regard faith for every occasion, including where we work which is another part of God’s Kingdom. Many have had enriching and rewarding experiences as they witness their love of Jesus Christ through Christian Workplace Groups. But it shouldn't be this way - our faith is for every occasion, including where we work. In fact this is probably the best place where people can see who we are, what we believe in and for us to share what God means to us.
In a survey we held at the start of 2010, over 55% of respondents said that the church never or rarely gives them any practical help to live out their faith at work, with less than 10% saying that such teaching occurred on a regular basis.
